Individual therapy with Samuel Isaiah Bisset, M.A., LPC.

A space to clarify what matters—and begin moving toward it, long before you feel ready.

How I work

Every Truth is true in its kind. It is substance in its own place, though it be but a shadow in another.

Isaac Penington, 1653

My therapeutic lens is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a contextual science. Rather than a one-protocol-fits-all method, I value taking a nuanced approach to each person, each skill, and each situation. Let's build your capacity to live fully alongside whatever noise shows up.

Values over Goals

Most people arrive knowing what they want to stop feeling. ACT invites a different lens. Rather than focusing on what you don't want to feel, let's clarify what you're moving toward — no matter what feelings tag along.

Committed Action

We don't spend sessions analyzing or wrestling with your thoughts. We take deliberate steps, test real-world behavior, and work directly with what arises.

Acceptance & Defusion

The goal isn't clearing out anxiety, grief, or doubt before your life can start. It's learning to unhook from those feelings, build space to carry them, and keep moving anyway.

HeartMath biofeedback

HeartMath is a heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback method. A small sensor reads your pulse in real time while you practice specific breathing and heart-focused techniques, and the feedback helps you find what HeartMath calls “coherence” — a smoother, more rhythmic heart pattern linked to calm, focused attention. It's a well-established biofeedback approach: a concrete, practicable skill for regulating stress in the moment, meant to sit alongside therapy rather than replace it.

I'm a HeartMath® Certified Practitioner. Sessions are delivered virtually, using a small HRV sensor — one you may already have, or one the practice can provide and ship to you. We'll sort out what makes sense for you on the consult call.

Samuel Isaiah Bisset, LPC

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. My work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy — I've trained in other models and draw on them where they fit, but I don't mix approaches that pull in opposite directions. Coherent care matters.

Ahari (ah-HAH-ree) is a word from Belize, my family's amazing home. The practice is named for them.

The practical parts

I see clients by video, anywhere in Texas. Everything here is straightforward on purpose — if something doesn't work for you, say so on the consult call and we'll figure out whether I'm the right fit.

Private pay

$135 per 50-minute session. No diagnosis required to start, no insurer deciding how long we work together, and nothing about our sessions shared with a third party.

Insurance

In-network through Headway with Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Oscar, Oxford, Ascension, Anthem EAP, Carelon, and limited out-of-state Blue Cross Blue Shield plans — not Blue Cross of Texas.

Cost depends on your plan. See your plan and book on Headway →

Not seeing your plan?

If your insurance isn't listed above, or you'd rather pay privately and skip insurance altogether, many plans still reimburse part of the cost of out-of-network care. This checks your benefits in about a minute.

Benefit checks are handled by Thrizer. Nothing you enter here is stored on this website. A benefits estimate is not a guarantee of coverage — your plan has the final say.

A free 15-minute call, first

We talk briefly about what brings you in and whether working together makes sense. If it doesn't, I'll point you toward someone better suited. Please don't include clinical detail when you book — we'll cover that on the call.
